PDO MONO THREADS

PDO Mono Threads or 'short threads' is a non-surgical, skin tightening and rejuvenation treatment, made from a material called Polydioxanone - an absorbable polymer (dissolvable suture) that is flexible and durable.

PDO Threads are inserted into the sub dermal level, in a mesh-like pattern, to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect of improving skin texture. The threads become a support structure (a bit like scaffolding on a building) that allows collagen production to increase. This provides the skin with a tighter feel and appearance and more of a youthful look.

Results may be seen in 6 weeks and will continue to improve over 2 to 6 months. While the threads slowly dissolve, their effects may last up to 12 months.

The ideal candidate for PDO threads is aged 25 – 65. It can be done as a treatment for a suitably volumised patient who needs tightening or skin improvement, or as a preventive procedure to prevent the face from sagging. PDO threads are unsuitable for patients with bleeding disorders, some auto-immune diseases and uncontrolled diabetes.

The treatment itself generally only takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on the area we are treating however you will be required to come in 30 minutes prior to treatment for topical anaesthetic to be applied, to ensure you feel minimal discomfort during the treatment.

Areas that can be treated with PDO mono threads include, but are not limited to:

  •  Static lines/wrinkles in the upper face

  •  Eyebrow lift

  •  Upper lip lines

  •  Neck and jaw line
